Proverbs 27: [25] The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered. [26] The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field. [27] And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maiden.
Our goats are pretty much spoiled rotten and I love it that way...they are such amazing animals full of love and curiosity. We feed our herd a 14% dairy ration formulated from the Langston University. They have access to bermuda hay at all times as well as free choice Vigortone Minerals, Kelp and baking soda.
We have a closed herd so our animals are never around others. We test for Caprine Arthritic Encephalitis (CAE) before breeding each year. We have no evidence of Casious Lymphadenitis (CL) but we did test the entire herd last year - all test were negative. If we sell a goat that has to cross the state line your state's requirements must be met when a health certificate done by our vet.
Our kids are dam raised; the way God intended. I try to be present at all kidding; well, we all try but it is almost impossible to be there for every one, I do have to work a couple days a week to support my goat habit; however we do have two Barn Cams from the Saddlebrook Company and three different sets of baby monitors (so I can hear Mom when she goes into labor) so I will pull a kid at birth if a deposit has been paid and you want to bottle raise them. You must be able to pick them up within a week after birth. I have taken kids to work with me so they could be bottle fed and that is not fun; everyone in the office enjoyed it however; my secretary loves to feed them.
If you have any question about these wonderful animals please don't hesitate to call or email me. Just click the links at left to see the herd and thanks for your interest.
God Bless.
